I didn't choose to write this song. It forced itself out of me in many a long agonising evening. This song is not only about coping with the loss of my mum. This song is **how** i coped with losing my mum. One day when I was missing her very much, I went into her room where her clothes were all laid out. My Dad had only just found the strength to clear out her stuff. I took a jumper and kept it for myself. It was a very old, ill fitting, scratchy jumper but I had memories of her comforting me while wearing it. I remember my first heartbreak as I sobbed and she held me close, The coarse jumper tearing at my teary eyes. This jumper has brought me comfort and also the motivation to try and continue her kindness in my own life. For that reason, I call it my superman suit. When I put it on, I feel like I can continue with a part of her alongside me. This album is dedicated to her memory and a phrase of hers that will always stick with me:

The lights went out, the earth went cold. The kind of darkness thats a thousand years old. Cause when the sun goes out, even the moon doesn’t shine, but theres still a day. A room of old but un-owned clothes spread out before a young boys eyes. Thread once that warmed the world now lay forgotten on the ground to stay. The boy picked up the wool and said I can’t go on this way. Come on my dear, put on your superman suit. You don’t need a cape, a mask or even boots. Yes I know that It itches. Yes I know it needs some stitches. But its all you need to change this cruel world. That superman suit. And as the tears came streaming down his face, he remembered how the apparell felt in her solacing embrace. How the fibre scratched at his raw skin, even so he pulled her closer in. And thats when he knew what to do, the sleeves on first then put his head through. And there in the mirror she stood looking back at me. Come on my dear, put on your superman suit. You don’t need a cape, a mask or even boots. Yes I know that It itches. Yes I know it needs some stitches. But its all you need to change this cruel world. That superman suit. Heroes are made they are not born, well this ones made from a ball of yarn. And though out there the world looks bleak, inside we’ll be warm this week. Cause though our hero from this world’s now gone, through us she will live on. Come on my dear, put on your superman suit. You don’t need a cape, a mask or even boots. Yes I know that It itches.
